Space

Do you ever heard about space? No, not the outer space or whatsoever that you are thinking right now. I'm talking about architectural space here. Have you entered a room that is not proportioned to its height and width? It makes you feel so uncomfortable and uneasy, right? That's how important space when it comes to architecture. Space is one of the things that architects should always consider in designing a building. It is what they create and continuously explore as time goes by to have an outcome of an efficient structure because if they consider those it should be all properly proportioned with the height of the ceiling to the sizes of rooms, it should also maximize the area given and most especially to obtain and meet its purpose or function.

Architects also consider the occupancy load in a building. Choosing the right size or dimension of a room and space is a big help to match the number of people who will occupy the said area including their supposed activities and tasks to be done inside of it. Another thing to consider is the FFE or furniture, fixture and equipment. Having the right placing of these will make or give a better space for the occupants who will use the building. Furnitures should be placed conveniently depending on the work flow. You don't wanna end up putting a bed inside a kitchen because it doesn't match with the function and the activity like cooking and washing the dishes which are likely to be done only in the kitchen. It has no purpose at all. You will just waste the space intended for efficient working in the kitchen.

Next thing to consider is the form development. Form of a building is also the output of space. Form develops due to its ability to serve its own purpose for the occupants. Some architects design a building with a beautiful form outside but when you try to look at the inside part there are some spaces built that are not really important and necessary at all. Therefore, another space is useless and of course wasted.
