Climatic Considerations

When we say climate, we usually think it is about the hot and dry season. But, according to Wikipedia, climate is the statistics of weather over long periods of time. Weather and climate is both a different thing. They are not the same because for weather, based on the Silent Gardens, it is just a forecast on what is the real thing that happens in the atmosphere of a specific day as well as the specific place. Also, there is a quotation which some meteorologist say that "Climate is what you expect; weather is what you get."
In design, we gotta consider climate very well. You might end up having a building which cannot withstand with the climate that is happening in such a specific place. You should learn or better know first what are the things needed or should be considered specially climactically in a certain place before putting up a building on it. Most of the countries are not the same. Some may be experiencing tropical climate, some may experience winter season. It really depends so you should really know what are the things to be considered like wind path, how's the temperature, if there's a macroclimate and microclimate, regional climate and so on. According to Wikipedia, there are 5 climate classifications namely tropical, dry, mild mid-latitude, cold mid-latitude and polar. It can still be divided into secondary classifications namely rainforest, monsoon, tropical savanna, humid subtropical, humid continental, etc.
Climatic conditions are very hard to consider because we are now experiencing climate change. Climate change as per Wikipedia, it is the variation in global or regional climates over time. It reflects changes in the variability or average state of the atmosphere over time scales ranging from decades to millions of years. These are most recently caused by our activities, human activities. Those season which are supposed to be wet season becomes dry season and the supposed dry season becomes wet season. Typhoons should be also considered specially in our country which can be a tricky one for a designer but you can come to a solution as long as you are very aware of the climatic conditions of the place.
